As a fourth-generation Coloradoan, I grew up in the picturesque town of Durango on a small farm that had been in the family for generations. The farm, nestled on nearly 100 acres, provided a wonderful setting with crisp mountain air, a wide variety of animals, and open spaces stretching from the mountains to the river. During my teenage years I worked on the Narrow Gauge Railroad selling pop , cracker jacks and candy, to tourists who came from all over the world to ride a steam powered train.I spent 5 summers enjoying the most beautiful canyon that the train traveled each day. Meeting such a wonderful variety of people certainly enriched my life.

As I transitioned into adulthood, I made my way to Fort Collins to pursue higher education at Colorado State University. Although my college journey faced interruptions, I embraced the roles of wife and mother while diligently working towards completing my Elementary Education Degree through night classes.

Looking back over the past fifty years, I reflect on a fulfilling career spanning 35 years dedicated to shaping young minds as a teacher. Amidst the joys and challenges, I successfully raised two daughters and reveled in the experiences of supporting them as they started their own families. Today, my greatest joy comes from being surrounded by my seven grandchildren and nine delightful great grands and soon to be ten.

Having touched the lives of over 800 children and shared countless stories through the pages of innumerable books, I find myself brimming with excitement at the prospect of publishing a book I penned during my high school years. This literary endeavor holds sentimental value, and I eagerly anticipate sharing it for generations to come.
